Everyone Out Here Knows: A Big Foot Tale
by internationally acclaimed poet William Stafford
illustrated by Angelina Marino-Heidel

A picture book for children that illustrates a poem by the American poet William Stafford
(1914-1993). This delightful lyric presents some of those things one sees in open country,
among forests and mountains and streams, that makes one wonder about Bigfoot and other
such crypt-ids, like Sasquatch and Yeti. The illustrations by Angelina Marino-Heidel are vivid,
colorful elaborations of the poem, enhancing it with natural landscapes of compelling beauty
and luminous suggestion.

William Stafford (1914-1993) was born in Kansas, served four years in public service camps
as a conscientious objector during World War II, and taught English at Lewis & Clark College
in Portland, Oregon, from 1948 to 1975. One of America’s most respected, accessible, and
widely published poets, he was the poet laureate of the United States between 1970-71 and
the poet laureate of Oregon from 1974-89.

This project was envisioned by Tim Barnes and the book is illustrated by Angelina Marino-
Heidel. This newly released book has already received acclaim and endorsements. It was
endorsed by Governor Kitzhaber and was chosen to represent Oregon at the Library of
Congress's Pavilion of the States during the National Book Festival. The book will also be
distributed to Oregon public and school libraries as a selected title of the Oregon Library
Association OREGON READS program.
