History of Land Use in Hillsdale

The mural depicts the history of the area which once farmed as  dairy and orchard land
since the time of early settlers.  It  pays homage to the re-forestation of the Terwilliger
Parkway of 1911 and the ancient pathways of the Afalati People, who past by this site on
the way to  fish the Willamette River.  It also recognizes  current day hiking paths
through the city of Portland and the view benches of  Terwilliger Park.
